Introduction to OCEANIS

Note: this tool is currently in development.

OCEANIS, formerly known as the Blueprint for Integrated Ocean Science (BIOS), is a collaborative, non-prescriptive planning tool for integrated ocean action. It supports structured question-based workshops that encourage holistic thinking, cross-sector collaboration, and reflective planning across all aspects of a project, program, proposal, or other initiative. OCEANIS can be used at any project stage, and we encourage coming back to it regularly.

OCEANIS is visualised by a Spiderweb with interconnected components. Each component consists of descriptors, themes, and associated question words, as well as questions connecting the components. Designed for diverse users, OCEANIS was developed through a co-creative process, involving interdisciplinary input from surveys, interviews, workshops, and feedback loops.

We believe that each component in the ocean observing value chain is interlinked and important. Explore the interactive OCEANIS spiderweb below.

Provide feedback on OCEANIS by filling in this survey. To provide feedback on this interactive tool, or to report issues, please submit an issue to our GitHub repository.
